During your visit, you will have time to use the self-guided exhibits, watch a movie in the Auditorium, walk the Nature Trail, and have lunch under the picnic shelter.

Learn

Explore our self-guided exhibits on topics that include the environment, weather, electricity, the nuclear energy process and more. From exhibits that depict the history of the Catawba River Basin to games like Wattage Watchdog and the Energy Master Challenge, choose from many exciting, interactive activities that teach about energy and electricity.

Watch

Have a seat in our large auditorium. The maximum capacity is 80. Our movies cover a wide range of energy and environmental subjects and can be enjoyed by all ages. Titles run from five to 30 minutes long. Our movie will be for all ages about Planet earth.

Trail

We will go on a hike. There is a one-mile wooded trail and butterfly garden. McGuire Nuclear Station is located on Lake Norman, the state’s largest man-made lake. Lake Norman was built by Duke Energy in 1963 by damming the Catawba River with Cowans Ford Hydroelectric Station.

Picnic

Afterwards we will all have a picnic lunch on the premises. Bring your own lunch. Picnic tables will be available, not sure how many so bring a blanket! Wear closed toed shoes for the nature trail!
